Info: Bounty Burgers make pre-cooked soy burgers. They’re approved by the Vegan Society of NSW, are a good source of protein and are low in fat (less than 1 gram per burger). They can be  prepared in traditional ways – along with being put in the toaster! While not widely available throughout Australia yet, they can be purchased at various places in NSW, outlets in South Australia, Queensland and WA, and online through the The Cruelty Free Shop.

They also provide a bento box dinner service – complete meals in a box – and an ordering service for Japanese ingredients. Food covers both the savoury and sweet spectrums, and all desserts are made with wholesome, organic ingredients, free of refined sugar. Some example dishes are brown rice with sweet chestnuts, pumpkin soup with cashew cream, oven roasted cabbage with kuzu tamari sauce, tofu ‘cheesecake’ with apricot, and amazake tart with seasonal fruit jam. Info: Funky Pies come in varieties including No Wurry Curry and Spicy Thai, with protein chunks. Also on the menu are ‘sausage’ rolls like Brekkie Rolls with ‘bacon’ bits and baked beans, fair trade organic coffee, organic juices, cupcakes and other sweet temptations. Staff wear no sweat uniforms and packaging is fully biodegradable. Products are also available wholesale and both retail and wholesale orders can be made by email.

These include Natures Organics and Tri Nature as well as simpler ones like bicarb of soda and tea tree oil in water. Vacuuming is done with bagless cleaners and plastic cleaning bottles are reused or recycled.

Info: Loving Hut is a bright takeaway styled restaurant where you order at the counter, though it has several tables where eat in meals are served just as well. Choices are shown on a wall menu and offer a small but diverse range of world food from snacks like french fries and vietnamese rolls to main courses such as spaghetti bolognese and Beijing Black Bean. Drinks include various types of tea, iced coffee and even beer: Birell, classed as a soft drink due to its low alcohol content. There are also desserts including cake. An international franchise of Suma Ching Hai’s organisation, Loving Hut uses takeaway containers made of sugarcane fibre that compost and fully degrade.
