Info: Funky Pies come in varieties including No Wurry Curry and Spicy Thai, with protein chunks. Also on the menu are ‘sausage’ rolls like Brekkie Rolls with ‘bacon’ bits and baked beans, fair trade organic coffee, organic juices, cupcakes and other sweet temptations. Staff wear no sweat uniforms and packaging is fully biodegradable. Products are also available wholesale and both retail and wholesale orders can be made by email.

Open: 7 days, 7am-7pm, Thursday to Saturdays til 9pm.

Info: Started by a vegetarian family in 2004, Peace Harmony presents Thai cuisine free of msg, onion and garlic. The name expresses a wish for people to live in harmony regardless of their differences. There are two Peace Harmony locations, both in the centre of Sydney. The main one is in Erskine Street, and the smaller one in King Street. Both provide takeaway. Peace Harmony also caters and delivers food.

Info: Green Gourmet is the name of two family run restaurants in Newtown and St Leonards. They serve Asian meals which you can eat in or takeaway. All dishes are free of onion and garlic, and many are wheat free. Green Gourmet also caters, and the St Leonards restaurant has a function room. The related Vegan’s Choice Grocery is next door to the Newtown restaurant.

Info: Pod Cuisine offers gluten free food made from lentils, beans and grains. Where possible, they work directly with growers to obtain legumes and other fresh organic ingredients. Their restaurant is at the Salt Clinic for health and beauty, however Pod food is also available at other places. As well, Pod donates food to a local Women’s Refuge Resource Centre “so that the women and children in crises experience community care as they begin to build a new life”. Info: Iku Wholefood presents macrobiotic dishes with over 200 organic and biodynamic ingredients. They also offer gluten free dishes. With several locations throughout Sydney, food preparation is centralised in Iku’s Marrackville kitchen “to ensure the high quality standards Iku customers expect”. Iku also runs a catering business and distributes a range of food through health food stores.

Info: Bodhi is an Asian restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. They serve Yum Cha during the day and dinner from late afternoon. Food is made from scratch on the premises and you can get fresh juices. Bodhi was started in the 1980s by Leigh Leng Whong, a journalist and public relations officer who became vegan. With no vegan restaurants in Sydney at the time, she started Bodhi in a different location as a place where she could eat.
